Sildenafil citrate is the active working ingredient of the ED pill Viagra and its generic analogs. Let’s go back a few years – in 1998 the FDA approved the first erectile dysfunction medicine Viagra. It was an immediate luck: the drug, created by the medical corporation Pfizer, worked for 80% of the men who suffered from erectile dysfunction, was safe and highly effectual. Because of the high costs, related to the development of the pill, Pfizer had to set up the very high price in order for the company to cover all the initial expenses. Afterward, other pharmaceutical companies started selling erectile dysfunction drugs, containing absolutely the same active chemical, Sildenafil citrate, under different names and now all these pills are referred to as generic Viagra.
